Our Volunteer Safety Staff work together to ensure the safety of skaters by promptly responding to medical incidents during bouts.
Volunteer Safety Staff:
- provides medical assistance to skaters, event staff, and spectators.
- assists the First Chair Medic as the initial responder to injuries.
- remains vigilant for potential concussions or other injuries
- assists the Bout Medic with administering CPR, BLS, etc. in the case of life-threatening situations.
Volunteer Safety Staff should have the following certification and experience:
- Certified First Responders (CFRs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), or Paramedics.
- Physicians with expertise in sports medicine, orthopedics, and/or emergency medicine.
- Athletic trainers with CPR training.
- Licensed Practical or Registered Nurses with current CPR training and experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, and/or emergency medicine.
- Nurse Practitioners or Physician's Assistants with current CPR training and experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, and/or emergency medicine.
Volunteer Safety Staff should only work within their level of training and experience, and all certifications needs to be current.
