Volunteer Safety Staff (Medics)

Description

Our Volunteer Safety Staff work together to ensure the safety of skaters by promptly responding to medical incidents during bouts. 


Volunteer Safety Staff:

  • provides medical assistance to skaters, event staff, and spectators.
  • assists the First Chair Medic as the initial responder to injuries.
  • remains vigilant for potential concussions or other injuries
  • assists the Bout Medic with administering CPR, BLS, etc. in the case of life-threatening situations.

Volunteer Safety Staff should have the following certification and experience:

  • Certified First Responders (CFRs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), or Paramedics.
  • Physicians with expertise in sports medicine, orthopedics, and/or emergency medicine.
  • Athletic trainers with CPR training.
  • Licensed Practical or Registered Nurses with current CPR training and experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, and/or emergency medicine.
  • Nurse Practitioners or Physician's Assistants with current CPR training and experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, and/or emergency medicine.

Volunteer Safety Staff should only work within their level of training and experience, and all certifications needs to be current.
