The world's best derby requires the world's best referees. Whether you are a seasoned official or new to derby altogether, this practice is for anyone ages 12+ who wants to contribute to helping RCR grow.
In general, officials practices feature a combination of topics and activities for both skating and non-skating officials, including:
- Skating skills, specific to derby officials.
- WFTDA rules familiarization and review.
- Scenario-based rules discussions and exercises.
- Skating endurance and conditioning.
- Penalty box timing/management, jam timing, scorekeeping, and stats recording.
* Note: WFTDA insurance is mandatory for all adult skating officials (18+), JRDA insurance is mandatory for all juniors skating officials (12-17).
